Northern lights tour in Tromso

Have you ever seen something so magical and beautiful that it takes your breath away? Join us in Polar Adventures on a northern lights chase here in Tromso and you will for sure get your breath taken away.

This natural phenomenon has been captures in video and photos countless times, but there are few that have actually experienced the real beauty of northern lights in real life. This is something that can only be experienced in the artic during dark winter times. The contrast of the darkness with the colorful and playful lights is an image that will leave your mind at ease.

We travel in small groups in a mini bus, which creates a special, cozy atmosphere which also helps us be more flexible on the road and as required reach the more remote and distant places in the countryside. You can expect an unforgettable experience as the arctic nature is pretty unpredictable and wild. Enjoy an insulated whole-body suit that will keep you warm, and snacks and hot drinks.

On our northern lights tour, you will be accompanied by professional and experienced aurora hunters. The lights chase is conducted in small groups in minibuses, creating an intimate experience suitable to the activity in play. During these northern light chases, you will also, of course, experience the beautiful nature of Tromso and northern Norway. Don’t forget to bring your camera along for this unforgettable experience - We make stops along the way, to take photos of the scenery and the unique nature and obviously to check if the Aurora Borealis can be seen.

The best weather conditions to see the Northern Lights are when the sky is dark and cloudless. Therefore, winter is the very best time to go out to hunt the fantastic northern lights. We welcome you on the Northern light tour with us between 15 September and 31 March. If there are many of you, we will provide two minibuses for the trip. We have two minibuses, one has room for 21 people and the slightly smaller one has room for 16 people.

Our route starts in fantastic Tromsø. You meet at Front Pier, Killengreens gate 7-11, 9008 Tromso. We have planned departure at 19:30, and it is therefore good if everyone meets at the meeting place no later than 19:20, 10 minutes before departure. The Northern light tour is expected to last approximately 6 hours. Where we go depends on where the northern lights take us for the evening. We will of course provide a guide who will take you through a journey of the Northern Lights' beautiful colors and shapes.

We choose where to go depending on the weather conditions and where we can find clear skies. Sometimes we even go as far as to the Finnish and Swedish borders to find the right conditions for the lights.

‍If the sky is very cloudy on the night you have booked and the chances of seeing the Northern Lights are small, you will be offered to leave the bus and receive a full refund. We follow the weather forecast closely, so you don't have to. If we do not give you a call before 19:00, the tour will go ahead and depending on the chances of seeing  Northern Lights, you will be offered to leave the bus and get a full refund or join the tour and get the 30 % discount if you don't see the Northern Lights.
